Electromagnetic waves allow magnetic resonance tomography to produce incredibly detailed cross-sections of the interior of the body. In contrast to a CT scan, no X-rays are used in magnetic resonance tomography.
An MRI examination is particularly helpful for the diagnosis of diseases of the brain, joints, musculature and spine, as well as the abdomen and blood vessels.

Imaging even with a pacemaker

One notable service offered at Confraternität Private Hospital: MRI scans are also available for patients with a pacemaker. You simply need to provide the document you received detailing your device’s specifications.

Prof. Johannes Kastner, MD, a cardiologist and MRI specialist, will review the technical requirements to ensure that the pacemaker or defibrillator is programmed appropriately both before and after the examination. He remains present during the MRI scan, which is performed by a radiologist, to monitor the patient’s cardiac function. Prof. Kastner and the team at Confraternität Private Hospital thus ensure the patient’s safety throughout the entire procedure.
