Cancer, blood disorders

Thanks to new research findings and forms of medication, growing success has been gained in recent years in treating cancer. This means there is an ever-increasing number of options available when it comes to successfully treating tumors, reducing side-effects and improving patient quality of life. Read more here about the diagnosis and treatment options that are available to you in the Confraternität Private Hospital.

Diagnosis and treatment

Patients with oncological diseases are in the best possible hands with our specialists drawn from various specialist fields. Working on an interdisciplinary basis, they clarify which of the available diagnostic procedures and treatment possibilities best meet a patient’s specific needs. In treating tumors of the lung, intestines, lymph glands and other organs, our experts use the most modern medications, effective and gentle surgical procedures, radiation therapy and interventional radiology.

One-to-one support – from the doctor you trust

In order to make you feel at ease in difficult circumstances, a doctor from our expert oncological team is provided as a main contact person who will provide support throughout the entire duration of your treatment. This doctor will discuss your treatment plan with you at every step and will keep in constant contact with all those involved in your treatment. The doctor will ensure your personal well-being together with the dedicated nursing team.

The holistic route to treatment success

Acute therapy is at the heart of cancer treatment. It will not, however, improve your state of health on its own. Our patients therefore receive holistic treatment and care: Dietary advice, physical therapy measures and psychological care supplement the range of treatments available. After receiving such a life-changing diagnosis, patients in our hospital can count on receiving holistic support that is dedicated equally to a patient’s physical and emotional needs.

Setting out on new routes – by determining personalized therapies

Every person is unique. And every person reacts in a different way to certain treatment methods. Molecular-genetic diagnostic investigation means that today, in certain circumstances, it is possible to provide patients suffering from cancer with a customized treatment recommendation. A method can be chosen from a selection of modern cancer treatments such as tumor surgery, chemo-, radiation or immuno-therapy that is “tailor-made” to the needs of the individual patient and offers him or her the best therapeutic outcome. At the same time, therapies can be avoided that will very probably not result in an improvement to a person’s state of health. The side-effects of any treatment are also reduced in ideal cases by the use of personalized therapy. Patients can also seek out a second opinion as part of their personalized therapy.

The route to successful treatment

By means of molecular genetic diagnostic investigation, a tumor profile is compiled that shows, with a high degree of precision, genetic changes in over 300 genes that, according to the current state of scientific knowledge, play a role in tumors developing. To this end, the oncologist providing treatment sends a sample of tissue to a certified laboratory where this is then examined by a team of specialists. The results are then aligned with all available treatment options and ongoing clinical studies. Detailed findings are then available after two to three weeks showing the various treatment options and providing the doctor with the basis for determining personalized patient treatment.
