Quality management
Comprehensive and individual care of patients is a primary concern at Confraternität Private Hospital. Quality work contributes significantly to the successful achievement of this goal. The benefits for patients: weak links can easily and quickly be identified. By adhering to rigorous standards, Confraternität is more committed than ever to deliver the best quality possible – for the benefit of its patients.
Medical outcome quality
When patients choose a hospital, they want to go where they will receive the best medical care. This information is hard to come by, though. Measuring medical outcome quality is a difficult task since the basic prerequisites for an operation or a treatment are different for each individual.
Nevertheless the PremiQaMed private hospitals have taken on this challenging task and have begun surveying the number of wounds that become infected in the hospital, as a preliminary indicator of medical outcome quality. Everything possible should be done to prevent these infections, so the figure should approach zero. The figure below shows the values for PremiQaMed private hospitals compared to the international nominal values.
Rate of infection for selected operations
Type of surgical intervention | Nominal value | PremiQaMed Hospitals value (2023) |
---|---|---|
Hip replacement | <0.98% | 0.97% |
Knee replacement | <0.49% | 0.00% |
Caesarian section | <0.68% | 0.00% |
Gallbladder removal | <1.59% | 0.00% |
Participation in Registries and Working Groups
Austrian Tumor Registry
The goal of the cancer registry is to record all new cancer cases if possible. The completeness of the Austrian Cancer Registry is to be ensured by the statutory reporting requirement of hospitals.
Blood Products Registry
All suspected adverse events and reactions that occur along the transfusion chain (collection to transfusion) must be detected, recorded and reported. Product and patient safety remain the main point of focus at all times. The Blood Products Registry sees itself as a hub in the network of information flow.
Working Group Interventional Cardiology of the Austrian Society of Cardiology
A total of 37 cardiac catheterization centers for adults within Austria are closely linked through the activities of the group. The current focus of work is the creation of a networked backup program that allows quality management of risk-adjusted quality of outcome improvement for the individual patient in a cost-effective way.
